Luther Franklin "Luke/Butch"  Hargett, Jr.
Luther Franklin (Luke/Butch) Hargett, Jr. 68 of Boonsboro, MD passed into the arms of his Savior at Meritus Medical Center on June 8, 2018 from many years of poor and declining health.

Luther was born on November 6, 1949 in Frederick, MD to Luther Franklin Hargett, Sr. Hagerstown, MD and the late Betty Pearl Tobery Hargett.

Luke leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate of 40 years, Patricia (Pat) Anne Maness Hargett of Boonsboro, MD. For the last 15 months he resided in Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village. June 18th would have been their 41st anniversary.

He leaves behind four very devoted daughters: Carrie Hargett (Paul), & Amy Smallwood (Richard) of Sharpsburg, Brandy Hargett (Jason) of Boonsboro, and Mandy Cummings (Jeff) of Hagerstown with his dearly loved and claimed daughters, April Ness (Jonathan) and daughter Neala of MD and Elizabeth Clever of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren: Sierra Smallwood (R.J. Davis), Mikinzie Smallwood, Trey Smallwood , Karragan Smallwood and Isabella Martin all of Sharpsburg; Macie Cummings of Hagerstown; Lillianna Shrader of Boonsboro, Evelynn and Cerathena Mowery of Seattle, WA; siblings, loving sister, Bonnie Hargett Horst (Kevin) of Jefferson, Bryon Hargett of Frederick, Paul Hargett (Judy) of Fenwick Island, DE, Robert Hargett (Brenda) and Betty Hargett of Hagerstown. He will be remembered by his Mother-in-law, Clara Nelson of Needmore, PA and by numerous extended family.

Luther graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson H.S. in 1967.

He served in the U.S. Army in 1969-70, serving Temporary Duty Tours (TDY) in many locations states side and abroad including South East Asia.

In addition to his mother, Luther was preceded in death by infant sister, Linda.

Family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home 327 West King St. Martinsburg, WV 25401 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12th. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13th, at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Rachael Black officiating.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Military honors will be held at Beaver Creek Community Cemetery, Hagerstown MD.

Mr. Hargett's family would like to thank the entire staff at Fahrney-Keedy for their devotion of care over the last 15 months.
