Ponnie Deleon Welch, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018.

Born March 12, 1942, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late Willie Henry Welch and Ethel Lee Johnson Welch.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He retired from HITT and Rolyn Construction Company.

Ponnie loved spending time with his family, restoring classic cars, building things and working with his hands.

He is survived by one son, Shane Deleon Welch; two daughters, Ledessa Stevenson, Mildred Neuhauser; eight grandchildren, William Robert Stevenson, Bessie Lynn Fowler, Amanda Courtney Hitzler, Eleora Cloe Stevenson, Veronica Cooper, Amber Vuncannon, Declan Welch, Aaliyah Welch; and thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Wilson Welch

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at his home.
