Condolences

Condolence From: Carolyn (Kay) Jones Wilson
Condolence: I attended the 60th class reunion of Martinsburg High and found out that Phil and Doris had died within days of each other. I cannot express the sadness I feel. We were neighbors and classmates. I played piano in Phil's band while in high school. I visited Doris until March and talked to her in May of this year and she always told me how Phil was doing. My prayers are with Phil's wife and family, he was a fine man and musician. Carolyn (Kay) Jones Wilson

Condolence: Phil taught me saxophone for 4 years, or should I say he was very patient with me for 4 years. I will never forget our time together (he would come to our home) because he was patient, kind, witty, somewhat strict but fair. And, he was a good teacher, I'm sure a lot of his former students remember him fondly as well. Sending up a prayer for his loved ones. Great man!

Condolence: Mr Bowers was my band teacher from 7th grade to 11th Grade. HE was a wonderful Band Director at Victory High School and was sorry to have him leave in 1965 to return to his hometown of Martinsburg. I continued my band activities at Fairmont State both in the marching band and concert band up until I graduated. I was also a majorette at Fairmont State. May he rest in peace.

Condolence: I was in Mr. Bowers first classes at LVHS when he first arrived there. I assisted him during fifth period when I had study hall with getting sheet music, selling supplies, etc. He was a great teacher and you could see his love for music and teaching. He gave me many opportunities of learning to play other instruments the years I took band. I loved football season marching band on the field with the percussion dept. fun memories of learning and playing the cymbals one season, bells, and then summer band practice learning the marimba. Love concert season. He impacted LVHS introducing marching routines, getting us new uniforms and sending us to All County Band. Thank you Mr. Bowers, my love for all genres of music is because of how you introduced me to it all. God use daily your gifts to teach us all.

Condolence: Mr. Bowers was my band teacher at Loudoun Valley. He was the best at what he did. He used to sing the music notes to me before I ever played the piece because he knew I played by ear. He will always be a part of the best memories I have of high school. He will be missed. Condolences to the family. Rest In Peace sweet Mr. Bowers. Cynthia
