Obituary for Lillian Marie Liskey (McConchie)

Lillian Marie (McConchie) Liskey of The Woods Resort, Hedgesville, WV passed into her heavenly home on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Lillian was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 13, 1936 and raised by her grandmother beginning when Lillian was 6 yrs.old.

She enjoyed traveling, country music (especially Willie Nelson; gospel concerts which they attended in this area, as well as in Florida; playing the slots (while Garland waited patiently for her) and being Irish, Lil, as she was known to lots of us, always came out with some winnings!

Lillian began her working career in 1954 as a member of the steno pool in the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, DC. She rose to be Administrative Assistant to many Assistant Directors in the Bureau and retired after over 38 years of service.

Lillian is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Garland C. Liskey; Harriett W. Liskey, sister-in-law, Hedgesville, WV; niece Deborah Liskey Orcino (Battista), Burtonsville, MD; nephew Steven W. Liskey (Monni) of Odenton, MD; niece Carolyn Byrd Thompson (Jack) of Georgetown, TX; nephew Alan R. Byrd of Silver Spring, MD; great niece Christina M. Orcino and her friend (Matt Miller) of Alexandria, VA, great nephew Dominic (Nick) M. Orcino of Burtonsville, MD; and great nephew J.T. Thompson of Cypress, TX. Also long-time friends – Dottie & Freddie Clements of La Plata, MD. Other survivors are a sister and two half-brothers.

A very special thank you to Terry Rogers, Lillian’s ICU nurse, and to neighbor and friend, retired nurse, Sharon Elmer for their loving care.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. (with visitation one hour prior to service) on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Brown Funeral Home’s South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, WV. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal, VA immediately following the service. Dr. Dennis E. Jackman, Pastor of Hedgesville United Methodist Church will be conducting the service.
