Obituary for Edith Beatrice Holmes (Johnson)
Edith Beatrice Holmes, 80, of Shepherdstown, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born September 27 ,1938 in Jefferson Co., she was the daughter of the late Wilson Henry Johnson and May Virginia (Taylor) Johnson.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Shepherdstown.
She retired from Lucent Technology.
She is survived by two daughters, Teresa L. Lindsey and Rhonda M. Gales; five sons, Stephen A. Holmes, Keith D. Holmes, Kevin C. Holmes, Barry W. Holmes, and Carlton Ray Holmes; one step-son, Dr. Robert Holmes, PHD; three sisters, Esther Johnson, Dorothy Ponton and Darlene Brown; three brothers, Thomas Johnson, Wilson Johnson, Jr. and Raymond Johnson; twenty four grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Holmes; and one step-son, Clarence Washington; two sisters, Alice Johnson and Helen Johnson and one brother, James Johnson.
Homegoing service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 12:00PM at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor John “Sonny” Price and Pastor Joe D. Lyles officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Pm prior to the service. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
