Obituary for Michael Meredith Grimm

Michael Meredith Grimm, 76, of Falling Waters, WV, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at home.

He was born at home on Porter Ave. in Martinsburg, WV, on August 25, 1942 to Harry Fonrose Grimm and Ruth Katherine (Michael) Grimm.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Suzann (Foster) Grimm; sister, Jacqueline Kay Donaldson and husband, Calvin, of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Todd Michael Grimm and wife Melanie, of Kissimmee, FL; daughter, Kristen Michelle (Grimm) Shriver of Falling Waters, WV; granddaughters, Chelsea Grimm of Wilmington, NC, Charlsie Grimm of Kissimmee, FL, and Aeris Shriver, Olivia Shriver, and Delainey Shriver of Falling Waters, WV; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Darlene Grimm.

Mike grew up on Rock Cliff Drive in Martinsburg, WV. He attended Hedgesville schools from grade school through high school. He graduated from Hedgesville High School in 1960. After high school, he attended Railroad Communications School in Kansas City, Missouri. He then attended Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV. In 1961, at the age of 19, he began working at Corning Glass works in Inwood, WV. It was there that he met several great friends who shared his love of cars, and a racing career that would span 52 years began. Later, he opened his first auto parts store on Raleigh St. with his business and racing partner, Buck Kees. They owned and operated several locations of Performance Auto Parts through the year 2000.

In 1971, Mike married the love of his life, Suzann. Over the years they have enjoyed skiing, boating, racing, and traveling together.

Being an avid skier, Mike has worked as a Mountain Host at Whitetail Ski Resort in Mercersburg, PA since his retirement in 2000. He also worked at Falling Waters Campsite. He was an active member of Harmony United Methodist Church and a passionate member of the Volunteers in Mission Team, the Tri-State Hope Builders. Mike could be found working on the racecar, boating on the river or lake, working outdoors, cheering on the Redskins or WVU, lending someone a helping hand, or spending time with his girls.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, December 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church at 9455 Williamsport Pike, Falling Waters, WV.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 13th at 6:00 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terri Cofiell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Harmony United Methodist Church/Volunteers in Mission Team at 9455 Williamsport Pike, Falling Waters, WV 25419.
