Obituary for Roy Edward
Roy Edward Null of Shepherdstown, WV died on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. He was 92 years young! Roy was born February 1, 1926 in Hanover, PA.
He served in the Army for 26 years and retired as a Sergeant Major and awarded the Legion of Merit by the Army in 1968.
He married Leanna Joyce Stremmel of Hanover, PA in 1952 and together they had one child, Karen. Leanna died from a brief illness in 1987. Roy was remarried to the widow Barbara Juanita Fleshman in 1988. She had two sons, Rick and Bruce that Roy loved like his own! A unique soul, Roy could be very funny and enjoyed playing practical jokes on his friends and family. He loved to go Bowling and play Golf. He will be greatly missed!
He is survived by his second wife, Barbara of Shepherdstown and her sons, Rick and his wife, Nancy of New Market, MD; Bruce and his wife, Anita of Shepherdstown, WV and his only daughter, Karen and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Panebaker of Culpeper, VA. Plus his beloved grandchildren, Amanda Nippers of Murfreesboro, TN; Emily Aylor of Etlan, VA and Erik Panebaker of Culpeper, VA.
There will be a viewing at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 18 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown, WV; followed by a service at 11:00. A lunch will be provided in the church fellowship hall following the service.
The burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cementary with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, PO Box 308, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
