Obituary for Priscilla Lee Holmes

Priscilla Lee Holmes was born in Shepherdstown, West Virginia on December 14, 1924. She passed away at age 94 on March 1, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 A.M. and the Celebration of Life service will start at 11 A.M. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4257 Kearnysville Pike on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Burial Service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery followed by a Repast for family and friends at Asbury Church.

Priscilla was married to Clarence Holmes for 12 years and they had two sons, Clarence Washington and Robert Holmes. After a divorce, she moved to New York City and worked as a maid at two hotels. Her sons retired her in 1978. She moved to Seoul, Korea to live with Clarence and then Robert in Atlanta, Georgia.

Priscilla became a community volunteer at Southwest Community Hospital, the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia and the AARP. She served as President of senior tenant associations at Friendship Towers and Wheat Street Towers.

Priscilla was a loving mother to her 2 sons, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her son Robert Holmes, sister Dora Washington and a host nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Marstella Washington, her son Clarence Washington, brothers Harry Washington, Jr. And Robert Washington, and sisters Mary Brown, Charity Cooke, Josephine Pollard, Charlotte Tucker and Genevieve Monroe.
