Gerald Gallaway Johnson, 77, of Charles Town passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the Willow Tree Manor. Born April 12, 1941 in Charles Town, he was the son of the late William Daniel Johnson and Rosa Key Gallaway Johnson. He was a member of the St. Phillips Church. Gerald graduated from Douglas High School in Baltimore, Maryland. He joined the Navy and was stationed at the Jacksonville naval Air Base for four years. He then returned to Washington DC where he worked for and retired from the U S Postal Service after 30 years of service. Gerald’s love of photography led him to photograph many famous people throughout the years.
His loving wife, Sandra E. Johnson, preceded him in death on May 12, 2013.
He is survived by one brother, Gregory Johnson, of Charles Town; two nieces: Kathy Greenfield, and husband Tracy, and Rashawn Randolph, and husband Mark; two nephews: Antoine Bears, and wife Susan, and Gregory Gerald Johnson; six great nieces; five great nephews; one great great niece, and one sister-in-law Kathleen Johnson.
Gerald will be truly missed by his family and friends for his funny sense of humor and his love for family and friends. A memorial service with military honors will be held 11am, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastor Jeffrey Berry officiating.
