Obituary for Christina "Christa" Harpalas

Christina “Christa” Harpalas, 73, of Martinsburg passed unexpectedly on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Winchester Medical Center.

Born in Frankfort, Germany on January 4, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Roger Eugene Clipp and Beta Ann Kraemer Clipp.

Christa was a 1963 graduate of Charles Town High School. She was a clarinet player and a majorette for the high school band. She enjoyed participating in parades as a majorette. She was a member of Charles Town Presbyterian Church.

Christa was employed at the IRS in the early 70’s. She then retired from the VA Medical Center after 30 years of government service. She filled her retirement time working at Charles Town Water and Sewer and then worked under a contractor for the ATF in Spring Mills.

Christa always loved to laugh and be the life of the party. She enjoyed being with friends for lunch dates. She laughed and carried on with her great-granddaughter Kiara who she adored greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Beta Clipp; and
her son, Brian E. McGee. She was a wonderful and loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, L. James “Jim” Harpalas; daughter, Dawn M. Shroades; two granddaughters, Rachele and Paige Shroades; great-granddaughter, Kiara Spencer all of Martinsburg; step-daughter, Tina M. Baker and her husband, Jason, their sons Dustin and Nathan Baker of Fairfield, PA; and grandson, Christopher B. Rainey of Martinsburg.

Memorial service Friday April 26, 2019 at 2:00PM at Brown Funeral Home, with Laurie Slevin officiating. Contributions may be made to the family.

Interment is private.
