Obituary for Linwood Terl "Lenny" Mayes

Linwood Terl “Lenny” Mayes, 91, of Charles Town, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 in the Hospice Inpatient Facility while surrounded by his loving family. Born October 13, 1927 in Portsmouth, Virginia, he was the son of the late Preston Terl Mayes and Evelyn Floyd Mayes. Lenny was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and served in the U S Army. He was an Autobody repairman for Ourisman Chevrolet; a hard-working husband; an incredible artist and all-around handyman. He loved fishing, boats, building and carpentry.
He is survived by his wife Ruby Sue Ryan Mayes, at home; four sons: Daniel “Danny” Mayes, and wife Debbie, of Mulberry, Florida; William Mayes, of Martinsburg, and Raymond and Ronald Mayes, both of Charles Town; five daughters: Bonita Mayes, of Maryland; Jeanette Neaton, and husband James, of Tennessee; Joan Branan, of Charlottesville, Virginia; Mary Gray, and husband Tommy, of Falling Waters, and Linda Barrs, and husband William, of Crisfield, Maryland; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Military graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 in the St. Peters Catholic Church Cemetery, Harpers Ferry, WV.
