Obituary for Glenn Sumner Bates
Glenn Sumner Bates, 63, of Kearneysville, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 as a result of a car accident.
Born February 2, 1956, he was the son of Patricia Sumner Bates and the late Robert Bates.
He was employed with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Washington Aqueduct Division, as a Welder.
Glenn was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved to ride and build motorcycles, loved the outdoors especially hunting, mowing, fishing and clamming. Glenn was a kind and gentle soul and everyone he met became a friend.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife whom he has been with for 17 years, Sarah “Janie” Sine-Bates; two daughters, Kayla and Kasie; four grandchildren, one sister, Wendy Ero and husband, Gary; one brother, Robert Bates and wife, Lisa; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his faithful fur baby, Sadie.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by two daughters, Tiffany and Amanda.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home.
