Obituary for Hilda Jane Cheshire (Timbrook)
On June 4. 2019, God’s good and faithful servant, Hilda Jane Cheshire, 91, Summit Point, passed away at the Williamsport Retirement Village under the care of hospice and surrounded by her family, and is now at rest with her Lord.
Hilda was born in Ruckman, WV, March 28, 1928, to Lloyd William Timbrook and Clara Jane Poland Timbrook.
She was a 70-year member of the Summit Point Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess, Adult Sunday School teacher and loved singing in the church choir. In her final days she enjoyed hymns being played softly for her. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling, being surrounded by family, writing letters to friends and journal entries that were always so descriptive of her activities and travels. She loved gardening and growing iris, gladiolus, and peonies which she used to decorate the church and cemeteries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Elwood Cheshire on January 15, 2015 and a sister, Elfreda Kline, on July 2, 2017.
She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Viands and husband, Lester Glenn of Summit Point, Patricia DeHaven and husband, Karl of Bunker Hill, and Stephanie Farley and husband Larry of Hagerstown, MD; a son, John Cheshire and wife, Phyllis; nine grandchildren, Pamela McCurry, John W. Lockwood, Jennifer Peer, John Timothy Cheshire, Amy Everson, Chasidy Rosa Morales, Jessica Jones, Julie Jenkins, and John, “Jake” Farley; eighteen great grandchildren; also surviving are two sisters-in-laws, Gladys Cheshire Timbrook of Baltimore, MD and Lola Cheshire of Augusta, WV.
Family will receive friends Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Summit Point Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Holt officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be JW Lockwood, Tim Cheshire, Tim Everson, Jake Farley, Keenon Jenkins, and Darien Cheshire.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Summit Point Baptist Church, PO Box 125, Summit Point, WV 25446.
