Obituary for James Raleigh "Jim" Chapman

James “Jim” Raleigh Chapman, 82, of Inwood, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Autumn Acres Berkeley Springs Nursing Home.

Born October 22, 1936 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Earl M. Chapman and Edna (Noll) Chapman.

He was a member of the Fellowship Church of the Brethren.

He was a veteran of the WV Air National Guard and was employed by Corning Glass Works as a press operator. After leaving Corning Glass he went to work for Berkeley County Schools.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Olivia Anne (Orndoff) Chapman; son M. (Michael) Scott Chapman and wife, Beth, of Kearneysville; daughter, Cheryl Anne Chapman of Inwood; six grandchildren, Nathan, Vanessa, Christopher, Nick, Andrew and Amber; six great grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Chapman and wife, Paige, of Leesburg, Virginia and Wayne Chapman and wife, Vel, of Martinsburg.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel.

Interment will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery at a later date.
