Obituary for Lois June Deuell (Thompson)

Lois June Thompson Deuell, 92, of Martinsburg passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Elmcroft Assisted Living under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle with her family present.

She was born on June 10, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Clarence F. and Lila V. Scrivener Thompson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Elizabeth Thornton and her stepfather, L. Vernon Brown.

June was a 1945 graduate of Martinsburg High School. She was in the nursing program at American University and a member of the Cadet Nurses Corps. She was a Registered Nurse at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, Kings Daughters Hospital in Martinsburg, Dallas Veterans Hospital in Dallas, Texas, The National Institutes of Health as a research nurse and the Martinsburg Veterans Hospital. She received her Regents Degree at Shepherd University in 1982. She was a longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Robert F. Deuell, MD (Marilyn) of
Greenville, TX and David R. Deuell (Kathy) of Martinsburg. She is also
survived by her grandchildren, Paul, Katie, Brian, Jennifer, and Ben, seven great grandchildren and nieces, Linda, Beth and Kathy.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Elmcroft and Hospice of the Panhandle for their care and dedication.

A private graveside service will be held.
