Obituary for Janet Louise Hamilton (Ring)

Janet Louise Ring Hamilton, 83, of Martinsburg passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Born December 24, 1936 in Middleway, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ernest H. and Louise Jane (Brady) Ring.

Janet began working in 1954, after graduating from Charles Town High School as a secretary for F. Dean Nichols, Esq. She married Mel Hamilton and moved to Martinsburg where she worked as a Court Reporter for the Honorable Decatur H. Rodgers. Later, she worked for Vance E. Sencindiver, Esq. Prosecuting Attorney and Earl Weller, Jr. Esq. She also worked for Ira Egler at Granville Smith and Company, and then left to raise their two children. Later in life she worked at Martin & Seibert until retirement in 2000. She was also a member of Winchester Avenue Church and active in the Choir and Church activities.

She is survived by one son, Mark W. Hamilton and wife, Molli; one daughter Anne H. Martin and husband Rick; four grandchildren, Justin M. Sheets, Avary G. Hamilton, Owen W. Hamilton and Lily L. Hamilton; two brothers, Douglas G. Ring and Johnny M. Ring and wife, Linda; one sister, Elizabeth R. DeHaven and husband, Larry; sister-in-law Teresa Nicklin and husband Prince, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Mel” Eugene Hamilton; sister Donna R. Barron; and brother William “Billy” Ring.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 11:00AM at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Bowers officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
