Obituary for Jerry Franklin McDowell

Jerry Franklin McDowell, 82, of Charles Town, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Born September 23, 1937 in Martinsburg, WV he was the son of the late Samuel David McDowell, Sr. and Irene Vernie King McDowell.

He is survived by his wife Frances of seventeen and half years; two sons, Brian (Carol) Winston of Martinsburg, Sean (Menya) McDowell of Ohio; step-daughter Rebecca Dawson of Inwood; step-son Charles Harris of Seattle, WA; four brothers, Gary of Kearneysville, Michael (Vanessa) of Chambersburg, PA, Paul (Geneva) of Martinsburg, and Sterling (friend Kay) of Charles Town; four sisters, Irene (Joseph) Allen of Kearneysville, Gloria (Pastor John Green) of Martinsburg, Denise (Mark) Twyman of Kearneysville, Angie (Amy) Jackson of Kearneysville; brother-in-law Oscar Washington of Kearneysville; sister-in-law Maria McDowell of Martinsburg; twenty one grandchildren; one special grandson, Matthew Twyman; and one special great-grandson, Esmon Twyman; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Lee McDowell, Samuel McDowell, Jr., and John McDowell; one sister, Olivia Washington; and one grandson, B.J. Winston.

Homegoing service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 1:00PM at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor John Green officiating.

Family will receive friends from 12:00PM to 1:00PM prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
