Obituary for Barbara Norma Burwell (Thompson)
Barbara Norma Burwell, 82, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
Born February 6, 1938 in Newton, MA she was the daughter of the late Linwood Thompson and Alice Leyden Thompson.
She was the Past Matron of the Shepherdstown Chapter #155 OES; Past Grand Electa WV OES; and a member of the Sisterhood of the Thimble Quilting Club. She was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Burwell; three sons, Robert Burwell, Joseph Burwell, and William Burwell; one daughter, Marcey Burwell; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother Linwood Thompson; and sister Doris Tribou.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathon Brown.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at the Charles Town Baptist Church, with Pastor Bryan Hoteling and Pastor Michael Lusby officiating. There will also be an Eastern Star Service at the church. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or Eastern Star Youth Scholarship Fund c/o Grand Secretary, PO Box 148, 12 N. Kanawha Street Suite #2, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
