Obituary for Paul David "Soapy" Staubs

Paul David Staubs, “Soapy,” 81, of Harpers Ferry, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017, at home while surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice. Born October 25, 1935, in Pipertown, he was the son of the late Aldridge Franklin Staubs and Mary Virginia Rodgers Staubs.
Paul was a member of the Bolivar Pentecostal Church. He was a good husband and family man who loved being outdoors. He was a maintenance crew supervisor at the Bank of Charles Town and, prior to BCT, had been a plant supervisor for Badger Powhatan. He had served as a councilman on the Bolivar Council and had volunteered with the Harpers Ferry Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hilda Estella Mellott Staubs, at home; daughter, Melody Ann Wyndham, and husband Charles, of Harpers Ferry; daughter-in-law, Kim Staubs, of Charles Town; sister, Barbara A. Cook, of Harpers Ferry; granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Fritts, and fiancé, Kubendran G. Govender, also of Harpers Ferry; 2 brothers-in-law: Charles Mellott, and wife Sue, of Kearneysville, and Donald Painter, of Harpers Ferry, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Paul David Staubs, Jr., and brother, Kenneth L. Staubs, Sr.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bev G. Turner officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm, Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at the chapel.
