Obituary for Ryan Thomas Campbell

Ryan Thomas  Campbell
Ryan Thomas Campbell, 48, of Martinsburg passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.

Born March 17, 1970 in Vallejo, California; he is the son of Donald W. Campbell and Sandra S. Campbell.

Ryan graduated from Jefferson High School in 1988. Ryan enjoyed music and played the trombone as a member of Jefferson High School's marching and jazz bands. Ryan attended college, where he played for the Marching Virginians of Virginia Tech, and earned a degree in Architecture in 1994. He was a skilled craftsman who designed and built beautiful furniture and other pieces.

Ryan's favorite place to be was outdoors. He loved whitewater rafting and worked for years as a river guide for Blue Ridge Outfitters on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers and later for ACE Whitewater on the New River and Gauley River. He worked tirelessly for environmental causes he cared about and spent his free time hiking, gardening, and woodworking.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Rhonda Campbell; one son, Duncan Campbell; one sister, Amy Stock and husband, Ned; nieces, Olivia Adams and Pheby Dameron; nephews, Jackson Stock, Geoffrey Wise, and Heath Wise; mother-in-law, Virginia D. Brown; sister-in-law, Michele Dameron and husband Calvin; and many loving friends.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest memorial donations be made to the West Virginia Rivers Coalition, 3501 MacCorkle Avenue SE #129, Charleston, WV 25304 or online at wvrivers.org., or to the First Presbyterian Church, 220 South Queen Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
